2 Cor. stands for 2 Corinthians, a Bible book abbreviation.
Paul's second surviving letter to Corinth, 13 chapters, defending his apostolic ministry and urging generosity in a collection for the poor in Jerusalem. It contains his famous mention of a "thorn in the flesh" (12:7).
Example: "My grace is sufficient for thee" (2 Cor. 12:9) is a favorite verse for people facing illness.
Usage notes
SBL and short forms use 2 Cor. Many scholars think the letter combines parts of several letters, partly because of the abrupt change in tone at chapter 10. Paul's list of hardships in chapter 11 is a key autobiographical source.
