TWS stands for True wireless stereo, a consumer electronics abbreviation.
Category of earbuds with no wire between the left and right buds, each containing its own battery, and usually sold with a charging case. The term also describes pairing two speakers for stereo sound.
Example: The TWS earbuds give six hours of playback, plus three more charges from the case.
Usage notes
Early true wireless products included the Bragi Dash and Onkyo W800BT in 2015, and Apple's AirPods (2016) made the category mainstream. Early designs connected the phone to one earbud, which relayed audio to the other, causing lag and dropouts; newer chips and Bluetooth LE Audio let each bud receive audio directly.
