1. Triglycerides
Medical · Laboratory Test Abbreviations
Main form of fat stored in the body and carried in the blood by VLDL and chylomicrons. Fasting levels below 150 mg/dL are normal, 150 to 499 mg/dL moderately high and 500 mg/dL or more severely high, with levels above about 1,000 mg/dL carrying a real risk of acute pancreatitis.
Example: TG 1,850 and lipase 900: hypertriglyceridemia-induced pancreatitis.
Often shortened to "trigs". Levels rise after meals, so a fasting sample is repeated when a non-fasting value exceeds about 400 mg/dL. Alcohol, uncontrolled diabetes, hypothyroidism, obesity and some medications raise triglycerides. To convert mg/dL to mmol/L, divide by 88.5.
2. Thai Airways International

Thailand's national airline, based at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport and a founding member of Star Alliance. Its purple, gold and magenta livery reflects Thai orchids.
Example: TG 917 from Bangkok to London leaves just after midnight.
ICAO code THA; callsign "Thai." Founded in 1960 as a joint venture with SAS. Thai Airways restructured under court supervision from 2020 and emerged in 2025. Its orchid-themed service has been its trademark for decades.
3. Thyroglobulin (Tg)

Protein made only by thyroid tissue, used as a tumor marker after total thyroidectomy and radioactive iodine for differentiated thyroid cancer. A rising or detectable level suggests persistent or recurrent cancer.
Example: Post-ablation Tg undetectable on levothyroxine, anti-Tg antibodies negative; excellent response.
Written with a lowercase g to distinguish it from TG (triglycerides). Antithyroglobulin antibodies, present in about a quarter of thyroid cancer patients, can falsely lower measured Tg, so both are checked together. Thyroglobulin is also the protein scaffold on which thyroid hormones are made inside the gland.
4. Togo
Geography & Places · Country Code Abbreviations
Narrow West African country stretching more than 500 kilometres inland from the Gulf of Guinea, with Lomé as its capital and TGO as its alpha-3 code. Lomé's deepwater port is a major transshipment hub.
Example: Container ships unloading in Lomé, TG serve landlocked Burkina Faso and Niger.
Togo was a German colony until World War I. The language code tg is Tajik.
