Standard contractual terms governing a sale, a service or use of a website or app, often presented on a separate page or the back of an order form. They typically cover payment, delivery, returns, warranties, liability limits, governing law and dispute resolution.
Example: By completing checkout, you agree to the T&C, including the 30-day return policy.
Online T&C are enforceable when users have reasonable notice and manifest assent, which courts find more readily for "clickwrap" (clicking "I agree") than for "browsewrap" (terms linked at the bottom of a page). Conflicting business forms raise the "battle of the forms" under UCC § 2-207. Also written T&Cs or Ts&Cs.
2. Type and crossmatch
Medical · Laboratory Test Abbreviations
Blood bank order that performs a type and screen and then tests specific donor red cell units against the patient's plasma, reserving them for that patient. Hospitals use it when transfusion is likely, such as an active gastrointestinal bleed or major surgery with expected blood loss.
Example: T&C 2 units PRBCs and keep one unit ahead in the OR.
Also called type and cross (T&X). When the antibody screen is negative and the blood type is confirmed on two samples, many labs perform an electronic or immediate-spin crossmatch in minutes instead of a full serologic crossmatch. Ordering a T&C for low-risk procedures ties up inventory, which is why hospitals publish a maximum surgical blood order schedule (MSBOS).
