1. Squamous cell carcinoma

Cancer arising from squamous cells; in dermatology it refers to cutaneous SCC, the second most common skin cancer, which presents as a scaly, crusted or ulcerated growth on sun-damaged skin. It can develop from actinic keratoses and, unlike most BCCs, has a small risk of spreading to lymph nodes.
Example: Biopsy dorsal hand: well-differentiated invasive SCC, 1.1 cm; standard excision with 4–6 mm margins.
Dermatologists often write cSCC to distinguish it from SCC of the lung, head and neck, esophagus or cervix. Organ transplant recipients on immunosuppression develop cutaneous SCC at many times the usual rate. SCC in situ is also called Bowen's disease. Cemiplimab, approved in 2018, treats advanced cutaneous SCC.

Its Charter of Rights and Freedoms decisions have shaped Canadian constitutional law since 1982. In arbitration, SCC also refers to the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce's arbitration institute.
