CategoriesScience & Engineering

SATP stands for Standard ambient temperature and pressure, a chemistry abbreviation.

IUPAC reference conditions of 25 °C (298.15 K) and 100 kPa, used for tabulating thermodynamic data such as standard enthalpies of formation. Under SATP one mole of ideal gas occupies about 24.8 liters.

Example: The tabulated enthalpies of formation apply at SATP, 298.15 K and 1 bar.

Usage notes

SATP differs from STP only in temperature, 25 °C instead of 0 °C, which brings it closer to real laboratory conditions. Thermodynamic tables often simply state "at 298 K and 1 bar."
