1. Please find attached

Writing & Everyday · Email and Office Abbreviations

Opens an email that carries a file attachment, telling the reader that a document accompanies the message. It is a compact formula from formal business correspondence, frequent in some regions and unfamiliar in others.

Example: Dear Sir, PFA the quotation for the office furniture as discussed in our call today.

Business-writing guides often recommend plainer wording such as "I've attached" or "Here is," because "please find attached" is formal and the abbreviation may be unfamiliar to many recipients. PFB ("please find below") introduces content in the email body instead. Both descend from the letter-writing formula "please find enclosed."

2. Protection from abuse order

Law & Legal · Estate and Family Law Abbreviations

Civil order under Pennsylvania's Protection From Abuse Act protecting victims of domestic violence from family or household members and intimate partners. It can evict the abuser, grant temporary custody and support, and require surrender of firearms.

Example: She obtained an emergency PFA over the weekend from the magisterial district judge.

Temporary orders are issued without notice to the abuser, with a final hearing within ten business days. Final orders can last up to three years and be extended. Violating a PFA is punished as indirect criminal contempt. Other states call similar relief an order of protection or protective order.
