MMPB stands for Mass-market paperback, a publishing and book abbreviation.

Small, inexpensive paperback format, roughly 4.25 by 7 inches, traditionally sold in supermarkets, airports and drugstores as well as bookstores. Common for romance, thrillers and reprints.

Example: The airport newsstand only stocks the MMPB edition.

Usage notes

Penguin's 1935 paperbacks in Britain and Pocket Books in the US (1939) launched the mass-market revolution. The format has declined as trade paperbacks and e-books have taken over. Also written MM or MMP.
