MEAN stands for MongoDB, Express, Angular, Node.js, an Internet & web abbreviation.
A full-stack JavaScript web development stack: the MongoDB database, the Express.js server framework, the Angular front-end framework and the Node.js runtime. Using one language throughout made it popular in coding bootcamps during the 2010s.
Example: The bootcamp's final project is a MEAN app with user login and a REST API.
Usage notes
The name was coined by Valeri Karpov in a 2013 MongoDB blog post. Swapping Angular for React gives MERN, and for Vue gives MEVN. Critics note that MongoDB is not always the best fit for relational data, and many teams now pair Node.js with PostgreSQL instead.
