IVCD stands for Intraventricular conduction delay, a cardiology abbreviation.
ECG finding of a QRS duration above about 110 ms that does not meet criteria for right or left bundle branch block. It can reflect diffuse conduction system disease, cardiomyopathy, hyperkalemia or drugs that block sodium channels.
Example: ECG: sinus rhythm, nonspecific IVCD with QRS 124 ms, unchanged from 2022.
Usage notes
Also written NIVCD (nonspecific intraventricular conduction delay). In heart failure, a nonspecific IVCD predicts less benefit from cardiac resynchronization therapy than a true LBBB. Sudden QRS widening after a tricyclic antidepressant overdose is an emergency treated with sodium bicarbonate. IVC alone means inferior vena cava, so read the final "D" carefully.
