IRST stands for Iran Standard Time, a time zone abbreviation.

Iran's official time, UTC+3:30, one of the few half-hour offsets in the world. The country observed daylight saving (UTC+4:30) for many years but abolished it from 2023.

Example: The press conference is scheduled for 11:00 IRST in Tehran.

Usage notes

The offset corresponds to the 52.5° E meridian, near the center of Iran. Iran uses the Solar Hijri calendar, whose year begins at the March equinox with Nowruz, so official dates differ from Gregorian ones. Iran's parliament voted in 2022 to stop changing the clocks.
