hh:mm:ss stands for Hours:minutes:seconds, a time abbreviation.
Time-format pattern for hours, minutes and seconds separated by colons, as in 14:05:09, used in timestamps, video timecodes, race results and software settings.
Example: Enter the start time as hh:mm:ss, for example 09:30:00.
Usage notes
In format strings, HH usually denotes the 24-hour clock (00 to 23) and hh the 12-hour clock (01 to 12), which then needs an AM/PM marker; mixing them up gives times that are off by twelve hours. Video editors extend the pattern to hh:mm:ss:ff, adding frames. ISO 8601 uses the same order, optionally with decimal fractions of a second.
