F. Cas. stands for Federal Cases, a legal citation abbreviation.

Thirty-volume compilation published by West in the 1890s gathering lower federal court decisions from 1789 to 1880. Cases are arranged alphabetically and numbered, so citations add a case number to the volume and page.

Example: Corfield v. Coryell, 6 F. Cas. 546 (C.C.E.D. Pa. 1823) (No. 3,230), lists the privileges of citizenship.

Usage notes

Before the National Reporter System began, early federal trial and circuit decisions were scattered across many private reports; Federal Cases collected them in one set. "C.C." in the parenthetical means a federal circuit court, a trial-level court abolished in 1911. Some writers use "Fed. Cas.", but the Bluebook form is "F. Cas."
