EDT stands for Eastern Daylight Time, a time zone abbreviation.

Daylight time for the US and Canadian Eastern zone, four hours behind UTC, observed from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November. New York, Toronto and Atlanta switch from EST to EDT in spring.

Example: The webinar starts at 1 p.m. EDT (17:00 UTC) on June 10.

Usage notes

EDT has the same offset as Atlantic Standard Time, so in summer New York and Puerto Rico share clock time. The switch happens at 2 a.m. local time, when clocks jump straight to 3 a.m. Since the Energy Policy Act of 2005 took effect in 2007, US daylight time has covered nearly eight months of the year.
