Usage notes

Swahili speakers traditionally count hours from dawn, so 7 a.m. is "saa moja" (hour one), and Ethiopia uses a similar 12-hour cycle starting at 6 a.m., which visitors should check when booking. Ethiopia also uses its own calendar, about seven to eight years behind the Gregorian.
