DRV stands for Darunavir, a drug abbreviation.
HIV protease inhibitor taken with a booster, ritonavir (DRV/r) or cobicistat (DRV/c), in regimens such as Prezcobix and Symtuza. It has a high barrier to resistance, making it useful after treatment failure.
Example: DRV/c 800/150 mg daily with food plus TAF/FTC.
Usage notes
Darunavir contains a sulfonamide group, so it is used with caution in people with sulfa allergy. As with other boosted protease inhibitors, interactions through CYP3A4 are extensive. It must be taken with food to absorb well. It was approved in the US in 2006.
