DCFSA stands for Dependent care flexible spending account, a health insurance abbreviation also used in business.
Employer account for pre-tax payment of care for children under 13 or dependent adults so that the account holder can work, covering day care, preschool, summer day camp and adult day care. It does not reimburse medical expenses despite being administered alongside health FSAs.
Example: DCFSA claim submitted for August day camp; overnight camp isn't eligible.
Usage notes
For decades the household limit was US$5,000 a year; a 2025 federal law raised it to US$7,500 beginning in 2026. The same expenses cannot be used for both the account and the child and dependent care tax credit. Also called a dependent care assistance program (DCAP).
