DApp stands for Decentralized application, a cryptocurrency & blockchain abbreviation.
An application whose backend logic runs as smart contracts on a blockchain rather than on a company's servers, usually used through a web front end and a crypto wallet. Exchanges, lending protocols, games and marketplaces are built as DApps.
Example: Connect your wallet to the DApp and approve the transaction to deposit.
Usage notes
Also written dapp or Dapp, and pronounced "dee-app" or "dap". Many so-called decentralized apps still depend on centralized web hosting, domain names and data providers, which can become points of failure or censorship. Ethereum and EVM-compatible chains host most of them.
