Risk factors include repetitive wrist use, pregnancy, diabetes, hypothyroidism and rheumatoid arthritis. Exam tests include Phalen's and Tinel's signs, and nerve conduction studies confirm severity. Carpal tunnel release is one of the most common hand operations. Pronounced as letters.
