CBOC stands for Community-based outpatient clinic, a veteran abbreviation.

VA clinic located closer to where veterans live than a full medical center, offering primary care, mental health care and some specialty services. Many are located in smaller towns.

Example: I get my primary care at the CBOC in town instead of driving to the city.

Usage notes

Pronounced "SEE-bock." CBOCs are part of the VA's effort to reduce travel for rural veterans. Some are staffed by contractors. Complex care is referred to the parent VA medical center.
