3HP stands for Three months of weekly isoniazid and rifapentine, a drug abbreviation.
Short regimen for latent tuberculosis infection consisting of 12 once-weekly doses of isoniazid plus rifapentine, often given as directly observed therapy. It is one of the CDC's preferred treatment options.
Example: Latent TB: 3HP once weekly x 12 doses by DOT; pyridoxine with each dose.
Usage notes
Completion rates are much higher than with nine months of daily isoniazid. Other short regimens are 4R (four months of daily rifampin) and 3HR (three months of daily isoniazid and rifampin). Some patients experience a flu-like reaction after doses. Rifapentine's enzyme induction affects other medications, including hormonal contraceptives.
