1 Jn stands for 1 John, a Bible book abbreviation.
Five-chapter letter traditionally attributed to the apostle John, emphasizing love, truth and assurance of salvation and twice declaring that "God is love" (4:8, 4:16). It warns against teachers who denied that Jesus came in the flesh.
Example: Confession and forgiveness are promised in 1 Jn 1:9.
Usage notes
SBL writes 1 John, Chicago's traditional list 1 John and short forms 1 Jn. The letter is the only New Testament source of the word "antichrist", along with 2 John. Its style closely resembles John's Gospel.
