Y2K stands for Year 2000 (fashion and design aesthetic), a Gen Z slang abbreviation.
Revival style inspired by late-1990s and early-2000s fashion, music and technology, including low-rise jeans, butterfly clips, baby tees, metallic fabrics and flip phones. Popular among Gen Z on TikTok and Instagram since about 2020.

Usage notes
The term originally named the Year 2000 computer bug, when older software stored years with two digits. Gen Z repurposed it for an aesthetic associated with stars such as Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. Fashion retailers now use "Y2K" as a product category label.
