WWJD stands for What would Jesus do?, a religious term abbreviation.

Question used as a motto by evangelical Christians to encourage moral decisions modeled on Jesus' example. It became a pop-culture phenomenon in the 1990s through woven bracelets printed with the four letters.

Example: She still wears the WWJD bracelet her youth pastor gave her in 1998.

Usage notes

The phrase comes from Charles Sheldon's 1896 novel In His Steps, in which church members pledge to ask "What would Jesus do?" before acting. A youth group leader in Holland, Michigan, created the bracelets in 1989. The slogan has inspired many parodies.
