WUE stands for Western Undergraduate Exchange, an academic abbreviation.
Tuition savings program run by the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) that lets students from participating western states and territories attend participating public colleges in other member states at no more than 150 percent of in-state tuition.
Example: Thanks to WUE, her Oregon tuition at a Colorado university was thousands less than full out-of-state rates.
Usage notes
Pronounced "woo-ee". Each college decides which programs are eligible and may require minimum GPAs. Popular majors such as nursing and engineering are sometimes excluded. Similar compacts exist in the Midwest, New England and the South.
