CategoriesWriting & Everyday

w/e stands for Week ending, an email and office abbreviation.

Identifies a week by the date of its last day, typically a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. It is common on timesheets, payroll records, sales reports and staff rotas.

Example: Please submit your hours for w/e 21 June by Monday noon.

Usage notes

On timesheets and in retail reporting, the week-ending date determines which pay period or sales week a record belongs to. Its counterpart is w/c ("week commencing"). In texting, w/e is shorthand for "whatever," a casual and unrelated meaning, so the setting decides which is intended.
