URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator, an Internet & web abbreviation.
The address of a resource on the web, such as https://www.example.com/products?id=42. A URL specifies the scheme or protocol, the host name, an optional port, the path to the resource, and optional query parameters and a fragment after a # sign.
Example: Copy the URL from the address bar and paste it into the support ticket.
Usage notes
Defined by Tim Berners-Lee and colleagues in RFC 1738 (1994); browsers today follow the WHATWG URL Standard. Every URL is a URI, but not every URI is a URL. Pronounced either as letters or as "earl"; "a URL" is the usual written form because most people say the letters. Domain names are case-insensitive, but the path after the domain can be case-sensitive. Berners-Lee has said the double slash after "http:" was unnecessary in hindsight.
