VA benefit that pays disability compensation at the 100 percent rate to veterans whose service-connected conditions prevent them from holding substantially gainful employment, even if their combined rating is lower.
Example: With TDIU, he receives 100 percent pay while his rating stays at 70 percent.
Usage notes
Veterans generally need one disability rated at least 60 percent, or a combined 70 percent with one condition at 40 percent or more. Also called individual unemployability (IU). Marginal employment does not necessarily disqualify a veteran.
