Sqn stands for Squadron, a military unit and organization abbreviation.
Unit whose size depends on the service: in the Army, a battalion-size cavalry unit; in the Air Force and Space Force, the basic unit, often operating 18 to 24 aircraft or a mission system; in the Navy and Marine Corps, an aviation unit of several aircraft.
Example: The 27th Fighter Sqn deployed six F-22s to the Pacific.
Usage notes
Air Force squadrons are commanded by lieutenant colonels and grouped into groups and wings. Navy and Marine squadrons use letter designators, such as VFA for strike fighter squadrons and VMFA for Marine fighter attack squadrons. The British Army also uses squadrons in cavalry, engineer and signals regiments.
