SEDOL stands for Stock Exchange Daily Official List, a stock market & investing abbreviation.

Seven-character code issued by the London Stock Exchange to identify securities traded in the UK and Ireland and many international securities. SEDOLs are used in clearing, settlement and market data systems.

Example: Our UK fund platform lets you search by ticker, ISIN or SEDOL.

Usage notes

SEDOLs form part of UK ISINs, which combine the GB country code, two padding zeros, the SEDOL and a check digit. The codes are allocated through the LSE's SEDOL Masterfile service. Since 2004, newly issued SEDOLs have been alphanumeric rather than purely numeric.
