RDF stands for Resource Description Framework, a data & database abbreviation.
A W3C standard for describing information as subject-predicate-object triples, such as Paris, capital of, France, so data from different sources can be linked into a graph. It underpins the semantic web, knowledge graphs and linked open data.
Example: Wikidata exports its knowledge base as RDF, which you can query with SPARQL.
Usage notes
First published by the W3C in 1999, with RDF 1.1 following in 2014. Identifiers are URIs, which lets datasets reference each other globally. Triples live in "triple stores" and are queried with SPARQL.
