RBBB stands for Right bundle branch block, a cardiology abbreviation.
Conduction delay in the right bundle branch, so the right ventricle is activated late through muscle. The ECG shows a QRS of 120 ms or more with an rSR' ("rabbit ears") pattern in V1 and a wide, slurred S wave in leads I and V6.
Example: Incidental RBBB on preop ECG, unchanged from 2018; no further workup needed.
Usage notes
Isolated RBBB is common in healthy people and usually harmless, but a new RBBB can signal pulmonary embolism, right heart strain or myocardial infarction. Incomplete RBBB has a QRS between 110 and 119 ms. Combined with left anterior fascicular block it forms a bifascicular block, which can progress to complete heart block.
