PPTX stands for Office Open XML presentation, a file format abbreviation.
Default PowerPoint format since Office 2007, storing slides, layouts, media and notes as XML in a ZIP package. Google Slides, Keynote and LibreOffice Impress can open and export it.
Example: Upload the final deck as a PPTX by Friday so the event team can load it on the stage laptop.
Usage notes
Related extensions include .ppsx, which opens straight into slideshow mode, .potx for templates and .pptm for macro-enabled decks. Fonts not embedded in a PPTX are replaced on other computers, a common cause of layout changes; PowerPoint can embed fonts to prevent this. Exporting to PDF is the safest way to share a deck for viewing only.
