PCAT stands for Pharmacy College Admission Test, a standardized test abbreviation.
Former Pearson exam for pharmacy school admission covering writing, biology, chemistry, critical reading and quantitative reasoning, scored from 200 to 600. It was retired after its final testing window in January 2024 because so few PharmD programs still required it.
Example: Applicants may still self-report a PCAT score earned before the exam was retired in 2024.
Usage notes
By the time of its retirement most pharmacy schools had already gone test-optional, and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy announced the change in 2023. Applicants can still list earlier PCAT scores in the PharmCAS application. No replacement test was introduced.
