Maui's principal airport, on the island's north shore in Kahului, Hawaii. It receives nonstop flights from many US mainland and Canadian cities as well as frequent interisland flights.
Example: OGG to Lahaina is about an hour's drive, so pick up the rental car early.
ICAO code PHOG. The code honors Bertram James "Jimmy" Hogg, an early Hawaiian Airlines pilot; it uses the last three letters of his surname. Visitors often wonder why Maui's airport code bears no resemblance to its name. Maui's smaller airports include Kapalua (JHM) and Hana (HNM).
2. Ogg (container format)
Technology & Computing · File Format Abbreviations
Open, patent-free container format from the Xiph.Org Foundation, most often holding Vorbis or Opus audio; files usually end in .ogg or .opus. It is common in games, open-source software and streaming.
Example: The game's sound effects are stored as OGG files to save space without licensing fees.
Ogg is a name, not an acronym; it comes from a tactic in the online game Netrek. The Vorbis codec reached version 1.0 in 2002 as a free alternative to patented MP3, and Spotify has long streamed music in Ogg Vorbis. Minecraft stores its sounds in OGG files. The video counterpart, Theora, saw little use.
