NADAC stands for National Average Drug Acquisition Cost, a pharmacy abbreviation.
Weekly CMS benchmark estimating what retail pharmacies actually pay for drugs, based on monthly surveys of pharmacy invoice prices. Many state Medicaid programs use it to set reimbursement.
Example: Medicaid pays NADAC plus a $10.50 professional dispensing fee.
Usage notes
CMS began publishing NADAC in 2013 in response to the unreliability of list-price benchmarks such as AWP. It mainly covers retail community pharmacies and is published as a free public dataset. Mail-order and specialty pharmacies are not surveyed.
