Usage notes
Pronounced "minor league baseball" or as letters. From 1901 until 2020 the minors were governed by the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues; MLB took direct control in 2021, cutting the number of affiliates and retiring labels such as Class A Advanced and Short Season. Minor league players unionized and signed their first collective bargaining agreement in 2023.
