LSgt stands for Lance Sergeant, a british military rank abbreviation.
Appointment held by corporals in the Foot Guards and the Honourable Artillery Company, who wear three chevrons and use the sergeants' mess. In practice it is the Foot Guards' version of the corporal grade.
Example: LSgt Matthews commanded the section during the Trooping the Colour rehearsal.
Usage notes
The rank existed more widely in the British Army until the mid-twentieth century. Guards regiments preserve it partly by tradition and partly so their junior NCOs can share the sergeants' mess. Like other lance ranks, it was formerly written L/Sgt.
