K/D stands for Kill/death ratio, a gaming slang abbreviation also used in entertainment.
Statistic dividing a player's kills by their deaths, used to measure performance in shooters such as Call of Duty, Halo and Fortnite. A K/D above 1.0 means more kills than deaths.
Example: My K/D this season is 1.8, best I've ever had.
Usage notes
Also written KD and KDR. Many players obsess over K/D, which can encourage selfish play such as avoiding objectives, so team-focused communities downplay it. Some games show it after every match; others hide it to reduce toxicity.
