iframe stands for Inline frame, an Internet & web abbreviation.
An HTML element that embeds another web page inside the current one, used for YouTube videos, maps, payment forms and ads. The embedded page runs as its own document, isolated from the host page by the browser's same-origin rules.
Example: Paste the YouTube embed code; it's an iframe that sizes itself to the container.
Usage notes
Introduced by Microsoft in Internet Explorer 3 in 1996 and standardized in HTML 4.0. Sites prevent others from framing them with the X-Frame-Options header or the CSP frame-ancestors directive, a defense against clickjacking. The sandbox attribute restricts what the embedded content may do. Always written lowercase.
