IEA stands for International Energy Agency, an international organization abbreviation.

Usage notes
Founded in 1974 after the Arab oil embargo, it requires members to hold oil stocks equal to at least 90 days of net imports. Its forecasts on peak oil demand and clean energy growth are widely cited and sometimes criticized by oil producers. In education, IEA also refers to an international association that runs studies such as TIMSS.
