HARM stands for High-speed Anti-Radiation Missile, a weapon and military equipment abbreviation.
AGM-88 air-to-surface missile that homes in on radar emissions to destroy enemy air defense radars, a key weapon for suppression of enemy air defenses. It is carried by Navy and Air Force strike aircraft.
Example: F-16s fired HARMs at the radar sites before the strike aircraft went in.
Usage notes
The HARM entered service in the 1980s, and the newer AGM-88E AARGM can attack radars even after they shut down. Ukraine adapted HARMs to fire from Soviet-designed fighters in 2022. Pronounced as the word "harm."
