Usage notes
The original GI Bill, signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on June 22, 1944, sent millions of World War II veterans to college and helped them buy homes. The Post-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33) took effect in 2009, and the 2017 Forever GI Bill removed the time limit for many veterans. Benefits can be transferred to dependents in some cases.
