Example: Counsel cited an EWCA Civ decision on contractual estoppel in her skeleton argument.
Usage notes
England and Wales introduced neutral citations in January 2001 so that judgments could be cited independently of any commercial report, in the form [2022] EWCA Civ 123. Its judges are Lords and Lady Justices of Appeal (LJ). Most appeals require permission. Northern Ireland's equivalent code is NICA.
