ETE stands for Estimated time en route, an aviation abbreviation.

Predicted flying time from departure to destination or to the next waypoint, calculated from distance, true airspeed and forecast winds. Pilots enter the total ETE on flight plans and use it to work out fuel requirements.

Example: ETE to Nantucket is 1 hour 12 minutes, so with reserves we need at least 22 gallons on board.

Usage notes

GPS navigators display ETE continuously, updating it as ground speed changes. On FAA flight plan forms the value is entered in hours and minutes; ICAO flight plans use the equivalent total EET (estimated elapsed time). US VFR fuel rules require enough fuel to reach the destination plus 30 minutes by day.
