Umbrella term for dance-oriented electronic genres such as house, techno, trance, dubstep and drum and bass, especially the festival-scale pop-electronic sound that became popular in North America in the 2010s.
Example: EDM acts dominated the main stage lineup at the festival.
Electronic dance music has roots in 1970s disco and Chicago house and Detroit techno of the 1980s. Many underground producers dislike "EDM" because it became associated with commercial festival music. Large festivals include Tomorrowland and Electric Daisy Carnival.
2. Master of Education (EdM)

Form of the Master of Education used by Harvard Graduate School of Education, Teachers College at Columbia, Boston University and a few other schools, mostly for one-year programs. The Latin-style order follows Harvard's custom of putting the field before "M".
Example: She completed the one-year EdM in Education Policy and Analysis at Harvard.
Written Ed.M. on diplomas. The degree is equivalent to an MEd; the letter order is purely institutional tradition. At Teachers College the EdM typically requires more credits than the MA and is often taken by people preparing for doctoral study or advanced certification.
3. Email direct marketing

Marketing emails sent to subscriber lists, such as newsletters, promotions and product announcements; the abbreviation is common in Asia-Pacific agencies, often written eDM.
Example: The eDM goes out to 80,000 subscribers on Thursday morning.
Western marketers usually say "email marketing." In music, EDM means electronic dance music.
