DKIM stands for DomainKeys Identified Mail, a cybersecurity abbreviation.
An email authentication method in which the sending server adds a cryptographic signature to message headers, verifiable with a public key published in the sender's DNS, proving the domain authorized the message and it was not altered.
Example: Mail from the new helpdesk failed DMARC until we published its DKIM key.
Usage notes
Created by merging Yahoo's DomainKeys with Cisco's Identified Internet Mail and standardized in RFC 6376 (2011). Unlike SPF, DKIM survives forwarding because the signature travels with the message. Selectors let a domain publish several keys, such as one per sending service.
