COLL stands for Collision coverage, an insurance abbreviation.
Auto physical damage coverage that pays to repair or replace the policyholder's car after it hits another vehicle or object, or rolls over, regardless of fault, minus a deductible.
Example: I raised my COLL deductible to $1,000 to cut the premium.
Usage notes
Collision is optional unless a lender requires it; owners of older cars often drop it when the premium exceeds what the car is worth. If another driver is at fault, the insurer may recover the payment and the deductible through subrogation.
