APWU stands for American Postal Workers Union, a professional association and labor union abbreviation.

Labor union representing postal clerks, maintenance workers, motor vehicle employees and other US Postal Service workers who handle mail in post offices and processing plants.

Example: APWU members staffed the counter during the holiday rush.

Usage notes

Five postal unions merged to create it in 1971, after the 1970 wildcat postal strike, which led to the Postal Reorganization Act. Federal law bars postal workers from striking, so contract disputes go to binding arbitration.
