AltGr stands for Alternate Graphic key, a computer abbreviation.
Modifier key to the right of the space bar on many non-US keyboards, used to type the third symbol printed on a key, such as the euro sign, @ or certain accented letters. On a standard US layout the same position is an ordinary right Alt key.
Example: On a German keyboard you type the @ sign with AltGr+Q.
Usage notes
"Graphic" here means a printable character. Windows treats AltGr as equivalent to Ctrl+Alt, which is why some application shortcuts clash with characters on international layouts. Choosing the US-International layout also turns right Alt into AltGr. Macs have no separate AltGr key; the Option key performs a similar job.
